Chopin composed two piano concertos at the age of 20, giving the first performances himself in Warsaw. The Romanze from the 1st Concerto has a serene, romantic quality, with a singing nocturnal melody. Mily Balakirev arranged the movement for piano solo, retaining all the intimacy of the original.
