Scott Joplin (1868-1917) was an American composer and pianist, who became famous for his ragtime compositions. These numerous pieces for piano created a style that was popular and would be influential on early jazz. The Stoptime Rag was published in 1910 and is unusual in requiring the player to stamp their feet in the rests. This arrangement is for chamber orchestra.
Instrumentation: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, trumpet, drum kit (cymbal, side drum, bass drum), violin 1, violin 2, viola, violoncello, double bass (strings can be single parts or a section of around 4, 3, 2, 2, 1)
